SLOPPY JOE BISCUIT CUPS
INGREDIENTS
3/4
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/4
cup chopped onion
2
cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4
cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4
cup ketchup
1
teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8
teaspoon pepper
1
tablespoon brown sugar
1
can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® Homestyle refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2
cup shredded pepper Jack or Cheddar cheese (2 oz)
DIRECTIONS
- 1Heat oven to 375°F. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef, onion, garlic and bell pepper over medium-high heat until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and brown sugar.
- 2Separate dough into 8 biscuits; place each biscuit in ungreased regular-size muffin cups (2 3/4x1 1/4 inches). Firmly press dough in bottom and up side of each cup, forming 1/4-inch rim. If desired, brush tops and sides of biscuits with an egg wash before baking. To make the egg wash, beat 1 egg yolk and 1/4 teaspoon water until well blended.
- 3Spoon about 1/3 cup beef mixture into dough-lined cups. Sprinkle each biscuit with 1 tablespoon shredded cheese.
- 4Bake 17 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is melted.

MATH GAME FOR AGES 4 - 5
LET'S HAVE A BIRTHDAY PARTY ! |
Let your child host a party for his/her stuffed-animal friends... Have him/her make up five place settings, explaining where the napkins and utensils are placed. Hand him/her ten animal crackers and ask him/her to give the same amount to each guest. Then start the celebration. This activity helps your child learn to divide things up and follow directions. I found this fun activity for kids in the October 2010 Parents magazine.

MATH GAME FOR AGES 2 - 3
SHAPE DETECTIVE
Go on a treasure hunt for items that look like a circle (the first shape most kids recognize). When you're at the grocery store, point out oranges, apples, and tortillas. At home you might spy a ball, a button, or a clock. Repeat the process another day using squares, triangles, or rectangles. This math game kid's activity was found in the October 2010 Parents magazine.

PERSONALIZED STORAGE BASKETS
Hang Baskets Near an Entry
I found this storage tip from Better Homes and Gardens. This would be a great way to organize the family's entryway to combat clutter buildup. Install hooks and hang personalized baskets for each family member. You could place mail, sunglasses, keys, etc. to help maintain a manageable, tidy entryway. I plan to do this in my laundry room since it is the main entry for my husband and me from the garage.

Bernina 830 Sewing - Embroidery Machine
I attended a Bernina workshop at the Berry Patch in Ft. Worth yesterday. We made a decorator pillow with the 830 Sewing - Embroidery machine. It's a wonderful machine that does amazing things. It was also VERY expensive. Wish I could afford it.

REMEMBRANCE OF 9/11
Enya - Dreams (WTC Tribute) 9/11
This is a video collection of 9/11 photographs link.
THE MEMORIAL will remember and honor the nearly three thousand people who died in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993, and September 11, 2001. The Memorial will consist of two massive pools set within the footprints of the Twin Towers with the largest manmade waterfalls in the country cascading down their sides. They will be a powerful reminder of the Twin Towers and of the unprecedented loss of life from an attack on our soil.
The names of the nearly 3,000 individuals who were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon, and the February 1993 World Trade Center bombing will be inscribed around the edges of the Memorial pools.

THE ORIGIN OF LABOR DAY
The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City. It was a creation of the labor movement and was dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.
On June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday. Labor Day constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country.
In today's harsh economic times, many American workers are without jobs. Hopefully, America will soon recover from this recession and unemployed Americans will be back to work.

COLLECTION OF CONTEMPORARY BROWN FABRIC WITH CIRCLES
This week my sewing projects included this contemporary designer fabric with lots of colorful double and triple circles in reds, greens, and pinks. The first photo shows my trendy baby gift set that includes a lovey or security blanket, a burp cloth, and a wash cloth. It would be a trendy baby shower gift to put in a diaper bag.

WORDS OF WISDOM
he becomes loving.
If he's helped when he needs help,
he becomes helpful.
And if he has been truly
valued at home...
he grows up secure enough to
look beyond himself to the
welfare of others."
