I came across this cake article and liked the tiny tall cakes. I think this idea would be great for making shower or special occasion cakes. Due to the negative comments regarding the article, I will use my own recipes.

The cakes are truly sweet looking. I checked out the article and the negative comments, which seemed amusing. If one is using a packaged cake mix then the only variable has to be the cake icing recipe. I guess "Ladies Home Journal" doesn't test the recipes before posting them? Had to agree with the comments regarding the dragees, they may be edible but in my view point they are only good for decorations. :D
ReplyDeleteWow just went to this webpage: ( http://www.fancyflours.com/site/dragees.html ) and they do not recommend eating the metallic looking dragees as they contain trace amounts of metal which can be harmful when ingested. Things I never knew !!!
I agree, I think the dragees are pretty, but inedible - not worth cracking a tooth either!
ReplyDeleteI found there are various differences between "good" cake mixes and the very inexpensive ones. Some aren't as moist and lack taste. I usually buy the "good" ones on sale.
